BASIC FORMS

Since the beginning of the 1960s, Bernd and Hilla Becher have documented industrial building whose architecture is totally dictated by their function. Becher's timeless series of photographs has captured a cultural treasure and technological history from a vanishing industrial era. These pictures are taken from 'Basic Forms of Industrial Buildings' - Thames & Hudson publishing. From the Plates, each photograph is from these categories: Water Towers, Cooling Towers, Gasometers, Winding Towers, Preparation Plants, Gravel Plant, Lime Kilns, Grain Elevator, Coal Bunkers, Coke Quenching Towers, Blast Furnaces, Filter Plants, and Interior Forms.
